Tsunami vs. the Fury-ious
Well another loss 4-0, we had a very good 1st half holding them to only 1 goal. Second half was a bit disappointing & frustrating; Rachel tweak her ankle, Steph got mangled in her corner, Stacie's feet/calves were cramping and Cara hurt her neck, Laura fell on her knee and re-injured it. All in all we hung in there and played good defense. Ashley made several great saves thank goodness, she had one awesome leap in the air and literally crushed a scoring goal. Hootie whoo!

Game Recap Week 3-Winter 2012
Here's a recap-before our game one of the players from the Blackhearts came over and told us to be careful with the Shooters. She said they played very dirty a couple of their players got hurt. The ref's were calling all the fouls on the Blackhearts. Just before we started, something was said to the ref's because they were much more vociferous than usual.
We played an upper division team the "Shooters" and boy did they! All in all we played well, disappointing with only having "10" players out of 20. Everyone worked hard at defending, Cara and Jenna helped a great deal with all that body contact going on and being tall intimidated some of the Shooters players. We did awesome the first half they only scored 1 goal, Ashley did an awesome job yelling helping the back line defend and Cara cutting off the runner before she crossed the ball. In the second half they scored 2 more goals but not without a fight. We were going downhill it was very cold and windy. Rachel almost had a goal...dang it, next time Rach.
For those of you who weren't at the game I'd like to introduce you to Ashley Garibay she is our new goalie. Also wanted to mention how great Patti has been as our goalie and we know we can count on Cara & Lindsey too to fill in. Thank you thank you!!!!

We actually started the game w 9 players! They scored their first pretty quickly in the first half (it was a beauty shot). Then our 10th player showed, so it was our 10 against their full team + 3 subs, I believe, which they were switching out often! Ashley: You did great in the goal!
I stand corrected we had 11 players, thanks Cara.

February 20th Hoodie-Hoo Day!
Hoodie-Hoo Day February 20th
Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day
When : Always on February 20
On this winter day, people go out at noon, wave their hands over their heads and chant "Hoodie-Hoo".
It is a day to chase away winter and bring in spring. After all, everyone in the northern hemisphere are sick and tired of winter at this point and a little crazy being cooped up inside all winter and not seeing the sun. It is an actual holiday!

How to bounce back from surgery without looking like you are trying
The Spoiler disabled list exploded this summer as injuries and maladies screamed for surgical attention. In typical form, Suzanne scores highest on “how to bounce back after surgery.” Putting in both the first and last goals of the first game in Sunday’s double header, Suzanne showed that she still has that touch. Her first goal came early in the first half. Suzanne’s second goal came with seconds left in the second half. Arlene’s cross landed perfectly on Laura’s foot. Laura deflected it goal-ward and Suzanne was right there to drive it into the net.
Short or fully staffed—it seemed not to matter for 909 United. We scored twice during the first half when they had as few as eight players, and twice during the second half, when they had a full team. Tsunami enjoyed the luxury of one sub. The second goal of the first half came from a pop fly above the goal. Like a volleyball spiker, Leslie leaped above the crowd and slammed the ball into the net with her head.
909 United did make more threats during the second half, keeping Diane slightly busier in the goal than Patti had been during the first half. Every time they tried to put something together, Cara or Jenna would break it up, or Brittney would steal it or Be would force it out of bounds. Two 909 solo artists tried to run the ball through alone, but of course neither could get by Staci.
Is Patti tired of playing goalie? She made her mark on the offense by scoring early in the second half. She shot from the left side (possibly with her left foot) and popped the ball right into the net.
Powerful winds swept the field, blowing any player chatter and many of the whistles into the parking lot. It made the game seem farther away than usual. Soon Grand Avenue Park’s trees will lose their leaves and game nights will be school nights. Enjoy the last weekends of the summer.
